Switching from blog.domain.com/wordpress to blog.domain.com - Easy? (4 posts)

    Hi:

I'm like to simplify access to the blogs on my server which are currently accessed by a standard "http://blog.domain.com/wordpress" URL and instead use just "http://blog.domain.com" without the "/wordpress", so users can just type "http://blog.domain.com/myblog". What's the easiest way to accomplish this?

Running WPMU 1.5.1. Dedicated server - have root access.

    Thanks.

You should have installed MU in the root of the site, not in a subdirectory.

I should have isn't really that helpful I'm afraid.

Is it possible to move the WPMU install to the root of the site and make configuration/DB changes to reflect this? Or is it much more trouble than its worth?

I've decided what I'm going to do.

Since this server is for more than WPMU and I don't want to affect the http://www.domain.com address, I'm going to use name-based apache vhosts and mod_rewrite rules in the blog.domain.com vhost webroot.

This is a more elegant solution, for me at least.
