I was wondering if it is possible to have standard categories.

For example, my site is going to deal with sports..but there are many different series in this sport--so I want to develop categories specific to each of those series'. I really dont want the user to create their own.

This way--when readers come to the main site they can click on "Series One" and only get blog posts in that category.

You can add categories from the admin panel. No sweat.
Users can't create their own as you are doing it on your pages. Eg. home.php, page.php, index.php. Where they all have their own set of links and categories you specify.

When I create a category, it only does so on the main page--not everyone else's. I want to make standard categories, so they write their blog, select one of the pre-selected categories...

For example If my page is about dogs, and they write a blog, I don't want them to be able to write in a category that they choose to name cats.

Just wondering if you got your standard categories... and if you did, how?

I think RaceDay is asking for the sitewide tags others have asked for like they do over at WP.com.
